Simple vegan smoothie bowls
Simple vegan smoothie bowl
There is a way to eat ice cream any time of day, without the guilt and yucky feeling that typically follows! Simple smoothie bowls are a nutrient-dense way to fill your body with whole foods while also giving a nod to your sweet tooth. The frozen banana is the real hero here. Because of its natural sweetness, there is no need for any added sweeteners. Let’s not forget that acai, pitya and frozen berries are also an incredible source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals as well. Combine them to create the ultimate simple, superfood smoothie bowl! No dairy or animal products necessary! It really is so incredibly simple that you will surely agree there is no special occasion required to enjoy one of these smoothie bowls. They also make an amazing addition to a brunch buffet! Some call it “nice cream”, I call it delicious. Whatever you choose to call it, I know we can all agree it’s awesome!
I hope that you are not discouraged to make these because you lack some of the items photographed. My smoothie bowls look different every time I whip them up. It’s pretty much whatever I happen to have on hand at the time. I do, however, maintain the smoothie base ingredients in my freezer at all times. Some days my smoothie bowls have a ton of fresh fruit on top, others, it’s dried fruit or no fruit. There have been times that I sprinkle it with nuts, seeds or granola and that’s it. There is no exact science required in the decoration of smoothie bowls. Customize them to you and your family’s likes/dislikes and nutritional needs. My boys enjoy choosing their own toppings and decorating them independently. Making smoothie bowls is a great way to get your little ones involved in the kitchen, while also enabling them to make healthy choices.
Ditch the cereal, toast, oatmeal, and yogurt every now and again!
Believe it or not, breakfast can really make or break your day. It is so easy to get hung up on eating the same things over and over again. Most breakfast options are loaded with sugar, additives and empty carbs. Not a great foundation for the rest of your day. If your weekdays are just too hectic to break your convenience breakfast habit, at least try to change it up on the weekends. Start small and watch yourself begin to make more and more healthy choices throughout the day. Once you begin to incorporate more nutrient-dense whole foods into your diet, you will notice big changes in your mood, mental clarity, and a boost in your energy level. Let the cereal, yogurt, toast, or oatmeal take a break for awhile. Take 5 minutes to prepare a simple, mouthwatering smoothie bowl and watch your body thank you!
