Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering and reflecting upon the people who died and sacrificed everything while serving in the country’s armed forces. As the wife of a retired Army pilot, the armed forces has been a big part of my adult life. My husband served two deployments and I believe taking the time to remember those that did not return home is our duty as American citizens.
Remember those who served before
Remember those who are no more.
Remember those who serve today.
Remember them all on Memorial Day.
Red , White & Blue BBQ
You’re invited to a Memorial Day BBQ. The hosts are providing the main dishes and you are asked to bring a side dish, salad or dessert. Sound familiar? It’s BBQ season and summer is here. For me, Memorial Day is always the unofficial start of summer. It’s all happening: the pools are open, the grills come out and the weather is warming up!
I enjoy themed parties and sometimes a summer BBQ can be very predictable. However, if you take the time to come up with a side dish or dessert that really hits the mark, it can make all the difference and surprise your host! Therefore, in the spirit of red, white and blue, these are some ideas with few ingredients, which are very tasty and nail the theme. Show your patriotism by bringing any of these dishes to your next patriotic holiday party.
